Raised in Cincinnati.
In Eden Park, above the Ohio River, stands a bronze she-wolf. Her name is Lupa.
In the old Roman story, she found two abandoned boys, Romulus and Remus, and raised them until they were strong enough to build a city of their own. She stands here because our city is named for a Roman too: Cincinnatus, the farmer who put down his plow when his people needed him, did the job, and went back to his fields.
In 2022, thieves cut her from her pedestal and left the twins behind. She was never found. So the city raised her again. Cincinnati's Italian-American community funded a new casting, a foundry near Florence poured it from the original mold, and in 2023 Lupa came home.
Lupa Labs carries her name, and my mother's. Wolfe was her maiden name.
